Craig Harris
Craig Harris is the Mayor of Kimberly, having been appointed to fill the position after newly elected mayor Ralph Lindsey retired in April 2009.
Harris was a newly-elected Kimberly Town Council member when Lindsey announced his retirement due to health concerns. Harris served as Chairman of the Finance Committee as well as Co-Chair of the Planning and Zoning Board. He was the only nomination made to fill the position at a specially called council meeting on April 30. Under Alabama League of Municipalities rules, the town was not allowed to hold a special election for the position. In addition to his role as mayor, he is also on the board of directors for the Jefferson Cullman Gas District, serves as a member of the Jefferson County Technical Advisory Committee as well as a member of the Jefferson County Mayor's Association.
Harris has an associates degree in environmental science and bachelors degree in business finance, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He and his wife, Shelley, have a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Connor.
