Catholic Diocese of Mobile-Birmingham was the name of the Roman Catholic diocese comprising all of the State of Alabama from 1954 to 1969. Prior to 1954 the diocese was named the Diocese of Mobile. On June 28, 1969, the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama was erected to serve the northern two-thirds of the state. The Diocese of Mobile continued to serve southern third of the state, it was renamed Archdiocese of Mobile in 1980.
