The '''Dotson McGinnis Nelson Junior Lectureship in Religion and Life''' was establihsed in [[1984]] by [[Martha Holley]] and [[Howard Lamar Holley]] to honor [[Dotson Nelson]], pastor of [[Mountain Brook Baptist Church]] from [[1961]] to [[1981]] and help [[Samford University]] students grow in their intellectual and spiritual understanding of Christianity and its application to society. The lectures are held in [[Reid Chapel]].
