Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church is a Methodist church located at 2541 Rocky Ridge Road. The church was founded in 1958 when the Rocky Ridge community was experiencing a large increase in population during the late 1950's and early 1960's.

The church is the charter organization for Boy Scout Troop 69 (chartered in December 1966).

History

  • On February 9, 1958, the first worship service was held in the Rocky Ridge Civic Center.
  • In March of 1958, seven acres of land was purchased along Rocky Ridge Road for the new church site.
  • On June 4, 1958, the church was officially organized and named Mountain Chapel Methodist Church of Rocky Ridge at the first Quarterly Conference.
  • On June 29, 1958, Rev. Howard E. Collins was appointed as the first full-time minister.
  • On August 23, 1959, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new chapel.
  • On March 7, 1960, the first service was held in the new chapel.
  • In 1963, a new educational building was completed.
  • On February 8, 1970, the first service was held in the new sanctuary.
  • In 2005, a major renovation of the sanctuary was completed.
  • In 2022, the congregation voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church
