Top Hat Barbecue is a barbecue restaurant located at 8725 US Highway 31, a few miles off exit 287 from Interstate 65 in Blount Springs. It opened in 1952.
It is owned by Dale Pettit and has been in the Pettit family for over 50 years. Pettit's father, Wilbur, bought the business from the previous owner in 1967. His son, Dale, started working there four years later, the day after he got home from a stint in the Navy.
In 2015, the Alabama Tourism Department recognized it as the runner-up in its "Dives" category in the Alabama Barbecue Battle.
