The Uptown Apartments are an apartment complex located at 1517 19th Street North in the Druid Hills neighborhood of the Central City community.

Owned by Hubbard Properties, on September 18, 2006, George Irving Amison, Jr. was killed when a stray bullet was fired from an assault rifle outside the complex. In the aftermath of that tragic incident, the city cited the complex with multiple health and safety violations resulting in condemning of four units.

On October 30, 2006, Birmingham health and safety workers inspected the complex for the third time noting the owners had made significant improvements to the property. The improvements were sufficient enough to prevent the city from condemning the property and evicting all the current residents.
