Category talk:Defunct banks

I still can't figure out how to create a category correctly. Any help? --Wheresdib 08:32, 6 October 2006 (PDT)

• To create a category, you add [[Category:Name of Category]] to the bottom of the article you would like to include in a category. If that category does not already exist, this creates a red link. You then click on the red link and follow the same procedure to put that category into another category (or categories) until eventually you reach an existing category (blue link). As soon as a category is included in a bigger category, it turns blue. That's the mechanism. As to the practical theory, it's pretty easy to accidently create redundant categories or cause other confusion and its fairly tedious to recategorize a bunch of articles if you second guess yourself. (Which I do all the time). I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the existing structure by starting at Category:Root and working your way in the direction you're planning to expand on to see what's been done already. --Dystopos 08:38, 6 October 2006 (PDT)
