David Craig Stiles (born c. 1959 in McCaysville, Georgia - died September 7, 2008 in Mobile) was principal of Mountain Brook High School from 1996 to 2002 and continued to serve Mountain Brook Schools as director of organizational development until 2007.
Stiles earned master's degrees in history and educational administration at Georgia State University and a doctorate in educational administration at the University of Georgia.
Stiles began his career as an educator in 1983, teaching history at Norcross High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He was promoted to assistant principal in that system, and then became the principal of Shiloh High School in 1993.
In 1996 Stiles was recruited to Mountain Brook from Georgia by superintendent Charles Mason. After leaving the system in 2007, Stiles took a job with Morgan Keegan, but soon later was hired as superintendent of the newly-created Saraland City Schools district in Mobile County.
Stiles fell ill in September 2008, just as Saraland Schools were beginning their first year of classes. He died of an apparent heart attack while at the hospital. He was survived by his wife, Laura, and two grown children, David and Charles.
