EnergyKey is a voluntary certification program for energy efficient residential construction developed by the Home Builders Association of Alabama in partnership with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and Atlanta's Southface Energy Institute.

Certification is available at three levels, with specific additional requirements for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. The program focuses on continuous thermal insulation of the building envelope and efficiently-installed mechanical equipment. The highest ("Green EnergyKey") level of certification also gives credits for resource-efficient design and materials, waste management, water conservation and for educating the home buyer on efficient energy practices.
