Garth Potts

Garth Potts (born 1947 in Newport News, Virginia) is a former executive director of the Levite Jewish Community Center and an artist specializing in judaica and sports cartoons.

Potts was born in Virginia, but his family moved to Buffalo, New York when he was a child. He spent a lot of time in the local Jewish Community Center and started working there as a teenager. He earned his Masters in Social Work from the State University of New York Buffalo, and has worked in JCCs ever since, with stints in Buffalo; El Paso, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Oklahoma City before settling in Birmingham.

While in Oklahoma he earned another master's degree from the University of Oklahoma, this time in fine arts with a concentration in printmaking and painting. He has always enjoyed drawing and sharing his artwork. He has produced a popular series of color stippled drawings on Jewish themes which he sells through his website. He has also illustrated a children's book, Humongous Pushka in the Sky by Danny Siegel

Potts is married and he and his wife, Ann, have seven children between them: Aaron, Shoshana, Brian, Micah, Joel, Gabriel and Zachary.
