Jo Kittinger

Jo Linda Susenbach Kittinger (born October 7, 1955 in Miami, Florida) is an author of children's books.

Kittinger grew up in North Carolina, Ohio and Florida before moving to Vestavia Hills as a teenager. She graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1974 where she served as yearbook editor. She then earned a bachelor of fine arts at the University of Montevallo in 1977.

Pursuing an interest in crafts, she co-owned the gallery Wood and the Works. She designed several crafts projects which have been published by Oxmoor House as well as activity pages which ran in the Birmingham News as the "Just For Kids" feature.

She is married to Rick Kittinger and had three children. Her oldest son, Michael, died in 2000 from complications associated with cerebral palsy. Kittinger has served on the Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Health Care Authority of Jefferson County as a representative of Hoover.
