New Start Covenant of Grace
New Start Covenant of Grace is a congregation affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) movement located at 2873 41st Avenue North in the Fairmont neighborhood of North Birmingham. The senior pastor is Derrol Dawkins.
It was founded around 1895 in the home of Beatrice Sapp in the Elyton community. The congregation later built a church in Smithfield at 1028 5th Street North (which was originally called Mortimer Street). There the congregation was known as Mortimer Street Church of God and then Fifth Street Church of God.
In 1974 the congregation moved to its present location and changed its name to Northside Church of God. Sometime after 2012, New Start took its current name.
In 2012, the congregation reported an average weekend attendance of 85.
