Steve Zaslofsky

Steven Barry Zaslofsky (born January 18, 1949 in New York, New York - died May 25, 2009 in Montevallo) was headmaster of Shelby Academy for the 2008-2009 school year.

Zaslofsky is a graduate of Madison Township High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey and Fort Lauderdale College in Florida. He began his career as an educator in 1971, teaching history and physical education. He has since served as principal of Coral Springs Charter School, and headmaster of the Desert Academy in Palm Springs and Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School in Florida and as dean of St Mark's Episcopal School and the Cathedral School in New York City. He came to Shelby County from Tucson, Arizona where he was director of athletics for St Michael's Parish Day School.

Zaslofsky, earlier a recipient of a research grant from the American Heart Association, died after a heart attack that struck him a few days after graduation ceremonies were held for Shelby Academy's class of 2009. He was survived by his wife, Barbara, three children and two grandchildren. He was buried at Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
