Appeal vs. Call

...recommending that Negros [sic] engage in local negotiations and use the courts if rights are being denied.

It might be better to use a direct quote from the Appeal for Law and Order and Common Sense. Also, this article says more about the Appeal than the titular A Call for Unity. -- Rob 15:06, 29 November 2006 (PST)

  • You're right. I actually read Jonathan Bass' Blessed Are the Peacemakers in September and it's been sitting on my desk waiting for me to tackle this, the letter, and the clergymen's bios. As ever, help is appreciated. --Dystopos 15:18, 29 November 2006 (PST)
  • Okay, Rob. I think I've got the two clergymen's letters straightened out. Feel free to expand on these. --Dystopos 18:52, 29 November 2006 (PST)
  • I made a minor change, but I think the article is impressive as it is. It made me look up texts of "A Call for Unity" and the complete "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," which I had only read in excerpts. Thanks for that. -- Rob 18:44, 30 November 2006 (PST)
  • I recommend Bass' book. It's very well written and presents a sort of "mythbusting" recounting of the events of 1963 and how they affected, in particular, the lives of the clergymen who wrote this letter. Let me know if you'd like to borrow it. --Dystopos 21:21, 30 November 2006 (PST)
