Possible typo

I don't know what "spelling" means in the fifth paragraph, second sentence: "He was called up in late September and made two appearances spelling Dropo at first base before the end of the season." Not sure if it's a typo or just baseball term I'm unfamiliar with. And if the former, I can't figure out what was supposed to go there ("replacing"?). --Lkseitz 08:59, 21 October 2013 (PDT)
