Robert Matthews is a senior systems analyst by profession and has been a photographer for over thirty years. He has won awards in local and national photography contests and has led photography workshops for different age groups. He has developed custom designed image viewers for websites and enjoys working in a digital darkroom.

He is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and has traveled across the world in search of unique photographic opportunities. He has captured breathtaking images from such vistas as the top of the great pyramid at Chichen Itza, Nymphemburg Castle in Bavaria, Yosemite Valley in California, and beautiful natural sand sculptures found on Tybee Island in Georgia.

One of his favorite places is in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee where he combines his photographic pursuits with a deep, personal desire to serve the mountain communities through mission work with the Mountain T.O.P. ministry.

He had a Natural Sand Sculptures Photography Exhibit on display in Lister Hill Library at UAB during the summer of 2016.
