Yellow Hammer Farms is a hydroponic farm and produce market opened in 2021 by Frank and Jillian Fitts in a former warehouse at 702 3rd Avenue North in Smithfield. The name is drawn from a popcorn farm incorporated by Frank Fitts' grandfather in Tyner, North Carolina in the 1990s.
The farm grows basil, lettuces, kale and other greens and herbs throughout the year using LED grow lights and a vertical hydroponic system.
