Backr Sports is a software developer that publishes a smartphone app that helps users keep track of professional athletes who are associated with a particular college. The app gathers game statistics, contract data, and social media posts into one platform. It was founded as ProU Sports in 2021 by former Knight Eady marketing professional Thomas Coiner, and is based at Birmingham's Innovation Depot.
ProU Sports won a $25,000 "concept stage" prize in the August 2021 Alabama Launchpad competition sponsored by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. The company also sells a line of college sports-related t-shirts.
