3rd Avenue North Bessemer is an east-west avenue paralleling the Alabama Great Southern Railroad tracks through downtown Bessemer, from just west of 1st Street to 22nd Street and the Interstate Industrial Park at Woodward Junction.

3rd Avenue is discontinuous between 4th and 7th Streets North at Carver Park, where the former Union High School once stood. A diagonal section of 3rd Avenue connects 2nd and 4th Avenue North across the gap. The avenue jogs northward at 9th Street, continuing along the south side of Snitz Snider Memorial Stadium. The avenue is interrupted again between 20th and 21st Streets.
