Accelerate Wind
Accelerate Wind is a company developing wind turbines customized to take advantage of accelerated winds at the roof edges of commercial buildings and designed to be installed by solar contractors as part of a broad system for harnessing renewable energy.
The company was founded in 2017 by Erika Boeing in St Louis, Missouri and has 6 employees. As of 2022 it is progressing from the prototype stage, under testing in Spanish Fork, Utah, to real-world pilot projects.
After participating in the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator and receiving a grant from Innovate Alabama in 2022, the company decided to relocate its US headquarters offices to Birmingham's Hardware Park.
In 2023 the company was selected to participate in the Green Proving Ground program operated by the U.S. Department of Energy Building Technologies Office and the U.S. General Services Administration.
