Atkerson's son, Tommy, opened up a second location in Atlanta in the 1960's and his son, Steve, continues to run the business in Atlanta.

Everette C. Atkerson founded the business in 1946 at 223 22nd Street North in Birmingham. In the mid-1950s they moved to 3101 4th Avenue South and stayed in that location until they closed in December 2013. Atkerson's son, Tommy, opened up a second location in Atlanta in the 1960s and his son, Steve, continued to run the business in Atlanta until July 2018.
