ArtPlay is a community arts education and outreach center operated by UAB's Alys Stephens Center in the former William Robertson residence at 1006 19th Street South. The house was renovated with performing arts studios, a small stage, writing nooks and practice rooms on the upper floors and meeting and reception space on the ground floor.

The center grew out of the Stephens Center's "Kids' Club" programs. Development of a separate home for ArtPlay was made possible by a gift from Jane Stephens Comer.

ArtPlay coordinates with UAB's art programs as well as other area arts groups for programming. Kimberly Kirklin, education and outreach director for the Alys Stephens Center, manages the facility along with assistant Heath Mixon. The center's first classes began on January 18, 2011.
