Barbara Files-Kennedy

Barbara Files-Kennedy is a behavioral counselor, motivational speaker and notary public.

Files-Kennedy grew up in Ensley. She began working in street outreach worker for UAB's substance abuse program and as a prevention/addiction treatment consultant for Royal Divinity Industries in 1998. In 2003 she was promoted to case manager at UAB. In 2007 she graduated from Miles College and assumed her present role as a behavioral counselor. The same year, she began working as a motivational speaker through the MayaTech Corporation of Silver Spring, Maryland. She launched her notary service, Oncallnotary, in 2016.

As a candidate Files-Kennedy has pledged to empower citizens and strengthen neighborhood associations through development of community spaces and block watch programs.
