Beal, which has branches in several major metropolitain areas, acquired the assets of New South Federal Savings Bank for $1.2 billion when the thrift failed on December 18, 2009.

In 2010 the bank downsized and relocated its 7,000 square-foot local office on Automation Way near Crestwood Boulevard in Irondale to a 1,800 square-foot space at The Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard at U. S. Highway 280.
