Bethel A.M.E. Church was founded in [[1888]]. The first church building, a wooden structure, was erected in [[1899]] at the church's current location. This church was later destroyed by fire while the sexton was attempting to light the gas lights for service.

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (or Bethel A.M.E. Church) is an African Methodist Episcopal church located at 2617 Mamie Foster Place in the Rosedale section of Homewood. The congregation formed in the late 1800s, but the current church building was constructed in the 1940s. The current pastor is Reverend Erroll Brantley Sr.
