Black Jacket Symphony (BJS) is a band founded by J. Willoughby and Damon Johnson in 2009. Inspired by the way symphony orchestras perform great works of the classical and romantic eras, the group recreates note-for-note classic rock albums. Willoughy produces the performances, and the musicians in the band change out depending upon which band and album is being featured.
Albums and artists which have been covered by Black Jacket Symphony include Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run, The Who's Who's Next, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Elton John's Madman Across the Water, Led Zeppelin's IV, and Prince's Purple Rain, among many others.
