The Bomb Shelter is a music venue located at 114 24th Street North. It has been operated under varying degrees of formality since 1993 by Gary Hyche, who leases and manages the building for owner Mitch Damsky.
In addition to hosting performances, the venue has served as rehearsal space for numerous local bands, including Hyche's Menewa. It was an especially popular location during ArtWalk, with several bands booked and visual art on the walls.
In 2007 Hyche purchased a 2-story building on 41st Street South in Avondale for his cabinet shop and residence. In 2008 Damsky listed the downtown building for sale. The Bomb Shelter's final concert was a performance by Spottiswoode and his Enemies on March 18, 2008.
