Clayton Colvin

Clayton Colvin (born 1976) is an American artist, art teacher, and curator who lives and works in Birmingham. He received a Bachelor of Arts in art history from New York University in 1999, a Master of Arts in art education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2003 and a Master of Fine Art from the University of Alabama in 2005.

Colvin began his career in art working summers as a teen at Agnes Gallery. He was their first intern.

Colvin was recently included in "Politics, Politics: Nice Artists Explore the Political Landscape" curated by Anne Arrasmith and Peter Prinz of Space One Eleven, and funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Colvin's work was part of "Contour: The Definitive Line" curated by Jon Coffelt. Colvin was also chosen to be part of "Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!" curated by Anat Ebgi and Jose Carlos Diaz at the Gescheidle gallery in Chicago, Illinois. He has had a solo show at Material art space in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2006 he was selected as the "Emerging Artist" for the Magic City Art Connection.

Colvin is the founder of Birmingham's non-profit StealthArts exhibit space. He was co-curator with Brett Levine of the 2005 exhibit "Information in Formation" at the UAB Visual Arts Gallery. He also curated the exhibit "Art and Place I: Place as Muse" for the Center for the Living Arts/Space 301 in Mobile. While in school he interned at Agnes gallery for several summers.
