View of the Econo Lodge Homewood

The Econo Lodge Homewood - Birmingham formerly the Comfort Inn Oxmoor Hotel was a motel located at 195 Oxmoor Road just off Green Springs Highway and I-65 in Homewood. The 2-story, U-shaped building surrounded a courtyard with a swimming pool.

In May 2006 recently-paroled felon Dedrick Griham brought abducted attorney Sandi Gregory to room 226 of the motel. He bound and raped her before police arrived.

In 2023 the motel property was acquired by Village Creek Development for a proposed 3-story residential and retail building with two restaurant spaces. El Barrio and Paramount were mentioned as tenants for the redevelopment.
