Neighborhood map Fairmont

Fairmont is a neighborhood in the North Birmingham community. The neighborhood is divided by I-65, with most of the houses on the southeastern side of the interstate, between 39th and 54th Avenue North and just west of the Walter Energy coke plant separating it from Collegeville. The northwestern half of the neighborhood, stretching to Five Mile Creek, is undeveloped.

The neighborhood borders Collegeville to the southeast, Harriman Park to the east, Fultondale to the north, North Birmingham to the south, and Hooper City to the west.

The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District's North Birmingham Homes project is located in Fairmont. The tiny Fairmont Park is located at 3101 51st Avenue North. Other institutions in the neighborhood include Mount Cavalry Baptist Church, Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and New Georgia Baptist Church. School students in the neighborhood attend Hudson K-8 School and Carver High School.

The Fairmont Neighborhood Association meets on the second Monday of each month at the Northside Church of God at 2873 41st Avenue North. Ronald Mitchell is the neighborhood president, Theresia Hale is vice-president, and Frankie Maddox is secretary.
