First Avenue Rocks is a proposed indoor rock-climbing facility to open in a leased warehouse at 2417 1st Avenue South. Entrepreneur Joe Ortega plans four 13-foot tall climbing structures, a yoga room, a screening room and art gallery at the facility. The development, which will initially employ three people, is set to open in April 2009.

Ortega hopes to open a second gym specializing in rope climbing somewhere else in the region.
