The church first me in [[1833]] as '''Hill Church''' by [[George Hill]] on property he owned east of the present city. It was chartered two years later, and adopted the name '''Mount Zion Baptist Church of Christ''' before [[1844]], when it moved about two miles closer to town. After [[Henry Oden]] donated three acres in the center of Sylacauga in [[1861]] it moved again to its present location. A fire damaged the church in [[1898]]. By the time a new sanctuary was completed in [[1905]] the congregation had re-organized as the '''Sylacauga Baptist Church'''. In [[1912]] the name was expanded to First Baptist Church of Sylacauga as the church prepared to expand to a large new building, which was completed in [[1914]]. In [[1917]] the annual meeting of the [[Alabama Baptist State Convention]] was held there.

First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa is a Baptist church located at 10 South Broadway Avenue in Sylacauga. The current paster is Rick Patrick.

The church first me in 1833 as Hill Church by George Hill on property he owned east of the present city. It was chartered two years later, and adopted the name Mount Zion Baptist Church of Christ before 1844, when it moved about two miles closer to town. After Henry Oden donated three acres in the center of Sylacauga in 1861 it moved again to its present location. A fire damaged the church in 1898. By the time a new sanctuary was completed in 1905 the congregation had re-organized as the Sylacauga Baptist Church. In 1912 the name was expanded to First Baptist Church of Sylacauga as the church prepared to expand to a large new building, which was completed in 1914. In 1917 the annual meeting of the Alabama Baptist State Convention was held there.

In 1951 First Baptist dedicated a new education building. A Christian Life Center was completed in 1988.
