Green Acres Cafe is a chain of fast-food restaurants founded in Chicago in the 1940s by William Gratton and brought to North Birmingham in 1950. The second location, on 4th Avenue North, was opened in 1958 by Gratton's brother Charles. Since then the chain has expanded to 11 locations, all offering the same proven menu of fried chicken wings, hamburgers and fries, fried fish, sandwiches, fried okra and fried green tomatoes.
