Hillside Homes is a 200-unit public housing community on 35th Street South in Bessemer.

In 1993 a reference to the project included that it was, "once nicknamed 'Little Korea' because of the frequency of gunshots there."

In November 2009, 150 units were demolished, and renovations began on the 50 remaining units. The $5.5 million renovation project, completed in September 2011 was funded with $2 million from federal stimulus money and the rest coming from the capital fund of the U. S.
