James W. "Jimmy" Morgan was a member of the Birmingham City Commission from 1937 until 1961. From 1953 until 1961, Morgan was the President of the Commission, and in essence, the Mayor of Birmingham.
The Birmingham Zoo was named in Morgan's honor for a time.
