John Sloan

John McKee "Kee" Sloan (born 1956 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is the Bishop Suffragen for the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama.

Sloan grew up in Vicksburg and completed his bachelor's degree in sociology at Mississippi State University in 1976. He went on to earn a master of divinity at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1981. After that, he became a priest, working in the parishes of Grenada, West Point and Olive Branch in Mississippi.

Later he became the chaplain for the University of Mississippi in Oxford, then was named rector of St Thomas Episcopal Church in Huntsville in August 1993.

McKee has been active in working with handicapped children at summer camps in Mississippi and at Camp McDowell in Alabama. He has also worked annually with the poor in Honduras.

Sloan was consecrated as bishop suffragen on January 12, 2008 at a ceremony presided over by Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. He succeeded Marc Andrus, who left Alabama to become bishop of the Diocese of California in July 2006.

Sloan and his wife Tina married in 1988 and have two children, John Jr and Mary Neil.
