Kermit Edward Dooley (born April 26, 1940; died December 29, 2023 in Gardendale) was a local historian and resident of Gardendale. He was the son of Harley Troy Dooley and Flossie Dooley and was twice named Citizen of the Year in Gardendale.

On October 19, 2020, the Gardendale Historical Society Museum was renamed to the Kermit E. Dooley Gardendale Historical Society Museum to honor Dooley for his long time service to the city of Gardendale.

He and his wife, Joyce, had two sons, Shaun and Troy.
