Lavon Beard is a physical therapist at UAB and a candidate for Birmingham Board of Education District 6 in the 2013 Birmingham municipal election.
Beard grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Ramsay High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Jackson State University in 2001 and a master of science in physical therapy at the University of South Alabama in 2003. He is currently completing a master's in business administration at UAB.
Beard and his wife, Latoya, have two children, Loren and Lexie.
