Lowetown is an unincorporated community below Rock Mountain, between McCalla and Lake View, just north of I-20/59 near the Tuscaloosa County line. It is anchored by St Luke Church and Solid Rock Baptist Church.

In 1988 the Jefferson County Office of Planning & Community Development commissioned Grover & Associates to design a Lowetown Community Park for the predominantly Black community of 156 people. The park is accessed from the intersection of Lowetown Road and Springer Road.

Camp Naweka was near the small lake southeast of Lowetown.
