Magnolia Point
- This article is about the 1-story 1930s commercial building. For the 1917 building opposite it, see Magnolia Point Building.
Magnolia Point is a 5,262 square-foot, one-story commercial building constructed in the 1930s on the northwest corner of the intersection of Magnolia Avenue / 10th Avenue South and 23rd Street South in Birmingham's Five Points South neighborhood.
The style of the brick building reflects that of the earlier Magnolia Point Building across Magnolia Avenue. In later decades the brick was painted and the storefront openings were filled with framed partitions clad in wood siding. A projecting mansard roof with asphalt shingles was also constructed, obscuring the cornice.
In January 2021, Michael Mouron of Capstone Real Estate Investments acquired the property for $360,000 from Norman Webster's Magnolia Properties. He plans to renovate the building by restoring its original exterior appearance, with hopes of attracting tenants— likely bars or nightclubs, which could share the parking lot between it and the 2200 Magnolia Avenue, which houses his Retail Specialists and Retail Strategies offices, along with Bayer Properties.
