The Mayor of Homewood is the elected head of Homewood's city goverment. Originally a part-time position, it became a full-time one in the 1960s.
History
When Edgewood merged with Grove Park and Rosedale in 1926, Edgewood's mayor, Charles Rice, became Homewood's first mayor. Rice, known as the "Father of Homewood," bought the land for city hall and helped oversee the start of many other city services. Homewood's second mayor, W.C. Bryant, only held the office briefly before resigning. Earl Bloom became the next mayor.
E. G. Walker was the city's first full-time mayor.
