The Modern Market Jr was a convenience store at 7632 5th Avenue North at Oporto-Madrid Boulevard, catty-cornered to the Texaco Super Deli which was the focus of neighborhood protests in the late Summer of 2007. The store benefited from the boycott of its neighbor and sheltered protesters.

The rear of the business was used for computerized gambling. After patrons complained that the store's management was not paying out their winnings, police raided the store. 12 workers were arrested and 12 machines confiscated in the October 4, 2007 raid. The building later housed the Birmingham Dining Southern Cuisine restaurant.
