Oakworth Capital Bank is a boutique bank formed in September 2007 by former Regions Bank and First Commercial Bank executives and chartered on March 28, 2008. The bank, which is headquartered in the 2000-2100 SouthBridge Parkway building in Birmingham's SouthBridge office park, raised about $35 million in start-up capital. Its chairman is Sam Upchurch. The senior managing director is Scott Reed. John Norris is director of wealth management.

The bank focusses its efforts on wealthy clients who do most of their banking online. Business customers are provided with check scanners which allow for fast, automated deposits.
