Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, sometimes abbreviated OLS, is Birmingham’s second oldest Catholic church. Initially it served a primarily German-American congregation and was located on 6th Avenue South. The church building burned in March 1949 and the congregation moved to 1728 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. The current church building was dedicated on January 17, 1960. The former location was rebuilt as Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. After

Our Lady of Sorrows Church also runs Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School, located next door to the church. The school began operation in 1951 and the school auditorium served as the church for the eight years before the current building was constructed.
