Phil Sims (born December 28, 1958 in Pinson) is a businessman who ran for Mayor of Pinson in the original 2004 election, losing in a runoff election. He ran again for mayor in 2012.

2010 Butterbean Festival

Sims graduated from Pinson Valley High School, Troy University and Texas A & M. Sims has previously served as the executive director of the Clay-Pinson Chamber of Commerce, and on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission and Jefferson County Emergency Management Citizen’s Advisory Board. As director of the Chamber of Commerce, Sims conceived the idea for Pinson's Alabama Butterbean Festival, and was instrumental in breaking the Guinness Book of World Records record for the largest pot of butterbeans at the festival in 2010.
