IPG Photonics Mid-Infrared Lasers (formerly Photonics Innovations) is a manufacturer of tunable middle infrared laser materials and equipment for the scientific and biomedical research and technology industry.
It was founded in 2007 by UAB researcher Sergey Mirov and was housed at the Innovation Depot until it moved to its own facility at 2413 Jacobs Road in Vestavia Hills in 2008. The firm was sold in 2010 to IPG Photonics and continues to operate as the Mid-Infrared Laser division of the Oxford, Massachusetts-based company.
