Presbytery of the Central South

The Presbytery :of the Central South is the regional body of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church encompassing Birmingham and most of Alabama. It also includes parts of six other states. As of 2023, eight Alabama churches were members of the presbytery including the following in the Birmingham area:
- Chelsea Presbyterian Church, Chelsea
- Church of the Cross, Cahaba Heights
- First Presbyterian Church, Opelika
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church was created in 1981 by congregations concerned about theological liberalism in the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. prior to its 1983 reunion with the Presbyterian Church in the U.S
