Preserve Jazz Festival

The Preserve Jazz Festival is a live jazz concert held annually at Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover. The festival was founded in 2007 by jazz guitarist Eric Essix and Preserve resident and insurance consultant Jason Henderson.

2014

On May 25, 2014 the festival relocated to Sloss Furnaces with headliners the Larry Mitchell Trio, Vann Burchfield, and Keith "Cashmere" Williams.

2009

The 2009 festival was held on May 31. Headliners included Jazz Attack (Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler and Richard Elliot), Eric Essix and Tracy Hamlin. HoneyBaked and the Chad Fisher Group also performed.

2008

The 2008 festival was held on June 1, 2008. Headliner was Guitars & Saxes, featuring Gerald Albright, Jeff Lorber and others. Other acts included Mart Avant's Night Flight Big Band, Kelley O'Neal Band with CeCe Phillips, and Joey Sommerville and his band, with Bob Baldwin.

2007

The innagural festival was held June 3, 2007. Headliner was Grammy-nominated saxophonist, Kirk Whalum. Also appearing were Eric Essix & Friends, Oteil and the Peacemakers, and Karen Gruber.
