R-Tist (born Randall Turner) is a hip-hop emcee, producer and musician from Pell City and a member of the rap group The Green Seed. A trumpeter and skater in high school, he was inspired to take up rapping (rhythm and poetry) by the New York hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest as well as punk music.
His stage name is based on his initials. Turner began writing poetry as a freshman at Talladega College. His day job is as a food safety specialist.
