When Edgewood Baptist Church was organized in 1920, Samuel L. Heath, was chosen to serve as its first pastor.
Heath’s began his ministry in January 1920 and continued through May 1920, when he returned to his home at Equality, Alabama.
He was a veteran of World War I in his late twenties and a ministerial student at Howard College.
